Shoot Em: Godot Edition
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Tab for Scoreboard, Esc for Pause Menu, Left Click and Space for Shoot, WASD for movement. Set your username in the settings menu before playing and you can see it when you hold tab, thats about all thats useful for at this time.
Shoot Em was an extremely simple game on scratch i made to try to learn that engine, you can go play it and see for yourself, scratch has limitations you just cant get around, which is why i started learning about Godot, and recreated my test game in the new engine! my current plans are to make it into a round based top down shooter with different weapons and maps.
Version 0.08 (The Quality of Life update) added a prompt before quitting both to the menu and to the desktop, more splash texts, finally split the high score into two different variables, highscore and hardmodehighscore, meaning hardmode now has an actual point counter! (there was a micropatch that actually fixed the hardmode highscore not showing in the gameover screen, just redownload the game if thats the case for you.)
Version 0.07 added invincibility frames, fixed alot of the UI and added a gameover that displays your score and highscore when you lose.
Version 0.06b added a Vsync option, changed how some of the ui looks, and finally removed that little noise texture on the play button that i only added to test how noise map textures work and never actually functioned as anything useful.
Version 0.06 updated enemy ai and fixed how bullets work, making the collision always seamless with an enemy or a wall. it also added a muzzle flash and snoke particles when firing.
Version 0.05b added the high score counter in the settings menu that updates if you clear it.
Version 0.05 was an update that added the player sprite changing when taking damage or gaining health
Version 0.04 fixed how the splash text looked, and also fixed the game being able to pause at anytime, making the game look to have frozen, but you just paused the game, its fixed now. (micro patch, made the player face forward so it looks better visually)
Version 0.03 fixed save files never being cleared, and the clear high score button is added in settings if you need it.
Version 0.02 was the update that fixed that issue. (that didnt include anchoring all the buttons and text to their intended locations, which was fixed by v0.07)
Version 0.01 of the game had everything you see here, but the resolution wasnt ever set to match what i had the base resolution at, so basically any resolution bigger or smaller than 1080p wasnt playable.
64 Bit Windows is the most likely guaranteed to work seamlessly
i havent tested the 32 bit windows one, (which will likely not be patched as frequently as the 64 bit and linux releases)
but i have launched the linux port on my steam deck and it works perfectly with that lower resolution screen, and on linux.
Mac is the least likely to launch, i cant test it, and i dont know whatever gatekeeper is but its blocking my game unless you give it explicit permission, that seems like an issue with MacOS as a whole.
as a given, i use no ai art, code or writing in any of my work.
